PREPARATION OF MASTER PLANS

Master plans were developed for 14 major Brazilian ports: Santarem, Vila do Conde, Itaqui Pecém, Fortaleza, Suape, Salvador, Aratu, Vitória, Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí, Paranagua, Itajai and Rio Grande. Also, the master plan for the Port of Santos was updated.

The master plans consider the following aspects corresponding to each port: port infrastructure and detailing of its operations; fleet characteristics; institutional characteristics; strategic analysis; future demand and capacity; possibility of expansion/extension of the port; economic feasibility; environmental limitations and recommendations; and financial analysis and rates.
The main outcome of the study was the development of a profile to each port, as well as a portfolio of necessary investments and expansions, determined in accordance with the strategic orientations of the PNLP.
