The partnership with the Empresa Maranhense de Administração Portuária (EMAP) was intended for the development of the Development and Zoning Plan (PDZ) of Porto do ltaqui, in the State of Maranhão.

Portaria SEP / PR nº 03/014 defines a PDZ as the “Port Administration’s operational planning instrument […] aiming, in the time horizon, to establish actions and goals for the rational expansion and optimization of the use of port areas and facilities ”. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the PDZs contribute to the creation of “an agenda of commitments to the development of each port in accordance with the actions of the various other areas of government”.

Taking as a reference the norms established by the said ordinance, the following activities were carried out:

• On-site survey to recognize the assessed area
• Spatial representation of lease agreements
• Cartographic production
• Research, construction, validation and standardization of vector geospatial data.

The products developed were the following:

• Georeferenced database (shapefile and kml formats), containing the layers provided for in Annex III of Ordinance SEP / PR nº 03/014
• Port Zoning Maps (.pdf and .dwg formats) on a 1: 10,000 scale (current, short, medium and long terms)
• Maps and images for spatial representation of the elements described in the PDZ document.
