WATERWAY TRANSPORTATION AT BABITONGA BAY

This project aimed at analyzing water transportation implementation feasibility at Babitonga Bay, located among the cities of Itapoá, Garuva, Joinville, Araquari, Balneário Barra do Sul and São Francisco do Sul, in Santa Catarina.

For the accomplishment of this project, the following aspects were taken into consideration:

• Characteristics of the area being studied: socioeconomic; modes of transportation (road, rail,waterway and air); conditions; volumes and types of flow.
• Analysis of demand, through the survey of declared preference covering the following topics: transportation modal shift; human occupation of new areas; tourism activities.
• Analysis of the types of vessels and conditions for implementation of the proposed transportation mode.
• Financial analysis considering the following aspects: project financing; required investments; costs involved; pricing and tariffs.
