PREVENTIVE AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS FOR ROADWAY SAFETY BY IDENTIFICATION OF CRITICAL SEGMENTS

In this project, several safety assignments were performed in order to determine the location of critical segments. These assignments included the analysis, diagnosis, and proposals for improvements in these segments.

In order to determine the location of the critical segments, methodologies were developed for the identification and prioritization of these locations. Several variables that may act as contributing factors to accidents and their severity were taken into consideration.

In general, the information on critical segments was collected/raised through two steps: office workand on-the-spot analyses. All field investigations brought together the development of georeferenced sketches, photographs, videos records, traffic studies and interviews with the users.
